Introduction:
Begin with a quick discussion asking students how a smooth theatre experience feels for an audience. Recall previous work on stagecraft and the crew’s role. Explain that today they will explore how teamwork, clear roles and customer care keep a production running smoothly. Success will be measured by their ability to plan, perform and debrief a mini‑production.
|
Lesson Structure:
- Do‑Now (5') – Students list three ways good customer care impacts an audience and share briefly.
- Mini‑lecture (10') – Present key working procedures and role responsibilities using slides and the role table.
- Group formation & role allocation (5') – Students split into production teams, receive role cards and a short scene script.
- Planning phase (10') – Teams create a rehearsal timetable and front‑of‑house plan on worksheets; teacher circulates for feedback.
- Rehearsal & performance (15') – Teams rehearse (5') then perform their 2‑3 minute scene for the class, with peers acting as audience and front‑of‑house staff.
- Debrief (10') – Whole‑class discussion using the assessment checklist to evaluate customer care, teamwork, and procedures, and suggest improvements.
- Reflection & exit ticket (5') – Students write one strength and one area to improve for their team on a sticky note; collect for review.
|
Conclusion:
Summarise how clear roles, effective communication and attention to audience needs contributed to the performances. Collect the exit tickets to gauge understanding. For homework, ask students to draft a brief post‑show evaluation report for their team, highlighting successes and next steps.
