| Subject: Drama |
| Lesson Topic: Planning processes: stages, stakeholders, environmental considerations |
Learning Objective/s:
- Describe the five stages of tourism planning and their purpose.
- Identify the main stakeholder groups involved in each stage.
- Explain key environmental considerations in tourism planning.
- Analyse how tourism planning concepts can inform drama scriptwriting.
- Apply the planning process to create a brief scene outline that incorporates stakeholders and environmental issues.
|
Materials Needed:
- Projector and screen
- Printed handout of the integrated planning table
- Whiteboard and markers
- Sticky notes and stakeholder‑role cards
- Script‑outline worksheet
- Short video clip of a community tourism debate
|
Introduction:
Begin with a short video of a community debate over a new resort. Ask students what information they would need to understand the issue, linking to prior knowledge of setting and character development. Explain that today they will explore the tourism planning process, its stakeholders and environmental checks, and how these elements can enrich drama scripts. Success criteria: list the planning stages, identify stakeholder roles, and draft a scene that reflects realistic planning challenges.
|
Lesson Structure:
- Do‑now (5') – Students write three questions they would ask when a new tourism project is proposed (checks prior knowledge).
- Mini‑lecture (10') – Present the five planning stages, stakeholder groups, and environmental considerations using slides and the handout.
- Group activity (15') – Groups receive stakeholder‑role cards and map responsibilities and environmental checks onto the planning stages on a poster.
- Drama link discussion (10') – Explore how these elements create conflict and motivation; show brief script examples.
- Script development (15') – Pairs outline a short scene (setting, conflict, characters) that includes at least two planning stages, relevant stakeholders, and one environmental issue.
- Gallery walk & feedback (5') – Pairs share outlines; teacher gives quick oral feedback and highlights key links.
|
Conclusion:
Recap the five planning stages, the key stakeholder groups, and the main environmental considerations discussed. For the exit ticket, have each student write one sentence describing how a stakeholder influences a drama conflict. Assign homework to expand the scene outline into a one‑page script that incorporates dialogue reflecting the planning challenges.
