Imagine a theatre where every ticket not only funds a show but also protects the environment. Students will recall previous discussions on tourism’s influence on local economies. By the end of the lesson they will be able to identify sustainable practices and design a piece that promotes them.

  1. Do‑now (5'): Brainstorm ways tourism currently affects drama venues; record ideas on the board.
  2. Mini‑lecture (10'): Present the four principles of sustainable tourism and their specific impacts on theatres using a slide deck.
  3. Case‑study analysis (15'): In pairs, read handouts on the Edinburgh Fringe, National Theatre London, and Cape Town Arts Festival; answer guiding questions.
  4. Strategy brainstorm (10'): Whole‑class generate sustainable strategies for a hypothetical tour; list on the whiteboard.
