|
Introduction:
Begin with a quick demonstration of navigating a long document using bookmarks, highlighting how they save time. Ask students to recall any previous experience using hyperlinks in reports. Explain that today they will learn to add and delete both bookmarks and hyperlinks, and will be assessed through a practical task at the end of the lesson.
|
Lesson Structure:
- Do‑Now (5’) – Students open a provided document, locate the navigation pane, and discuss why bookmarks are useful.
- Direct Instruction (10’) – Teacher models adding a bookmark (Insert > Bookmark) and naming conventions, then shows how to delete it.
- Guided Practice (15’) – Students add a bookmark to a specific paragraph, then pair‑check each other's work while the teacher circulates.
- Adding Hyperlinks (10’) – Demonstrate creating a hyperlink to the new bookmark, to an external file, and to a web URL; highlight the Insert > Hyperlink dialog.
- Independent Practice (15’) – Learners create three hyperlinks (bookmark, file, web) and then delete one of each, documenting steps on a worksheet.
- Check for Understanding (5’) – Quick quiz or exit ticket: list shortcut keys for adding/deleting bookmarks and hyperlinks.
|
Conclusion:
Summarise how bookmarks and hyperlinks improve document navigation and referencing. Remind students to test every link they create and to use descriptive bookmark names. For homework, ask them to edit a personal document by inserting two bookmarks and linking them appropriately.
