Grade: Date: 17/01/2026
Subject: Drama
Lesson Topic: Evaluating effectiveness of marketing and promotion
Learning Objective/s:
  • Describe the key components of a drama marketing plan (target audience, branding, channels, message, call to action).
  • Identify appropriate metrics for evaluating marketing effectiveness.
  • Analyse marketing data to assess reach, engagement, conversion rate and ROI.
  • Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of a campaign and propose improvements.
  • Communicate findings clearly in a written report and oral presentation.
Materials Needed:
  • Projector and screen
  • Whiteboard and markers
  • Marketing‑plan worksheet (printed)
  • Sample social‑media analytics screenshots
  • Audience survey questionnaire handouts
  • Calculators or laptops/tablets
Introduction:
Begin with a quick poll: “How did you hear about the last play you attended?” Use responses to highlight the power of effective promotion. Recall previous lessons on target audiences and branding. Explain that today’s success criteria are to design a marketing plan, evaluate its performance using data, and present actionable recommendations.
Lesson Structure:
  1. Do‑Now (5') – Students list recent drama shows they discovered through different channels.
  2. Mini‑lecture (10') – Review key concepts (target audience, branding, channels, metrics) with slide examples.
  3. Group activity – Marketing plan design (15') – Teams choose a drama, complete the worksheet with objectives, audience, channels, and metrics.
  4. Data simulation & analysis (15') – Provide sample data; groups calculate reach, engagement, conversion, ROI and fill the evaluation matrix.
  5. Presentations & peer feedback (10') – Each group shares findings; class discusses strengths, weaknesses, and improvement ideas.
  6. Reflection & exit ticket (5') – Students write one specific improvement for future campaigns on a sticky note.
Conclusion:
Recap the five‑step evaluation cycle and how the metrics informed the groups’ recommendations. Collect exit tickets as a quick retrieval check. For homework, students refine their marketing plan based on feedback and draft a brief written report summarising their evaluation and next steps.
