| Subject: Information Communication Technology ICT |
| Lesson Topic: Be able to apply bullets including shape, alignment, line spacing and indent |
Learning Objective/s:
- Apply a variety of bullet shapes (disc, circle, square, dash, numbered) appropriately in documents.
- Align bulleted lists left, centre or right to suit the purpose of the text.
- Adjust line spacing (single, 1.5, double) for readability and formatting requirements.
- Create first‑line, hanging and block indents to structure paragraphs and lists.
- Combine bullet styling, alignment, spacing and indenting to produce a professionally formatted list.
|
Materials Needed:
- Projector and screen
- Computer with word‑processing software (e.g., MS Word)
- Sample worksheet with unformatted text
- Printed handout of bullet‑style reference table
- Whiteboard and markers
|
Introduction:
Begin with a quick visual of a poorly formatted list and ask students why it looks confusing. Review that they already know how to create basic bulleted lists. Explain that today they will master shaping, aligning, spacing and indenting to make lists clear and professional.
|
Lesson Structure:
- Do‑now (5'): Students open a blank document and type three items using the default bullet style.
- Mini‑lecture (10'): Demonstrate the Bullets gallery, selecting different shapes and applying left, centre, or right alignment.
- Guided practice (15'): Learners change bullet shapes, adjust alignment, and experiment with single, 1.5 and double line spacing while the teacher models each step.
- Indent workshop (10'): Show first‑line, hanging, and block indents; students apply each indent type to a sample paragraph.
- Collaborative activity (10'): In pairs, students create a formatted list for a given scenario (e.g., recipe steps) using all the styles covered.
- Check for understanding (5'): Quick exit quiz – match a style (bullet shape, alignment, spacing, indent) with its command.
|
Conclusion:
Recap the five key formatting tools and how they improve document clarity. Students complete an exit ticket describing which style they would use for a bibliography entry. For homework, they format a one‑page list of study tips applying all the techniques learned.
