Date: 01/12/2025 |
| Subject: Information Communication Technology ICT |
| Lesson Topic: Be able to add presenter notes |
Learning Objective/s:
- Describe the purpose and benefits of presenter notes in a presentation.
- Demonstrate how to add, edit, and format notes using the Notes Pane.
- Apply presenter notes to support delivery, including printing notes pages and using Presenter View.
|
Materials Needed:
- Computer with PowerPoint (or compatible presentation software) installed.
- Projector or interactive whiteboard.
- Sample presentation file for practice.
- Handout of keyboard shortcuts and notes checklist.
- Printed copies of notes pages (optional).
|
Introduction:
Begin with a quick question: How do you remember key points while presenting? Review that slides should stay uncluttered and that presenter notes provide a private script. Explain that today students will learn to add, format, and use notes, and they will be able to demonstrate a complete notes set by the end of the lesson.
|
Lesson Structure:
- Do‑Now (5'): Students list three challenges they face when speaking from slides and share briefly.
- Mini‑lecture (10'): Explain the purpose of presenter notes, show the Notes Pane (Ctrl+Shift+P), and demonstrate formatting tools.
- Guided practice (15'): Open a sample presentation; students add concise notes to the first three slides using bullet points and highlighting key data.
- Pair check (5'): Learners exchange laptops and review each other's notes for clarity and spelling using the checklist.
- Presenter View demo (5'): Show how to start Presenter View (Alt+F5) and navigate notes while presenting.
- Printing notes (5'): Demonstrate File → Print → Notes Pages and discuss when hard copies are useful.
- Independent task (10'): Students complete notes for the remaining slides of the sample file.
- Wrap‑up quiz (5'): Quick exit ticket: list two shortcuts for the notes pane and one tip for effective notes.
|
Conclusion:
Summarise that presenter notes keep slides clean while supporting the speaker, and that students now can add, format, and print them. For the exit ticket, each learner writes one personal note‑taking tip. Homework: create a five‑slide presentation on a topic of choice and add complete presenter notes.
