Introduction:
Begin with a quick question: How many times have you corrected the same word manually in a document? Review prior knowledge of the basic Find function and explain that today we’ll extend this to using Match case and Whole words options. Students will know they can efficiently edit large texts while maintaining consistency.
|
Lesson Structure:
- Do‑Now (5'): Students use Ctrl+F to locate a specific word in a short paragraph.
- Mini‑lecture (10'): Demonstrate opening the Find & Replace dialog, entering find/replace text, and using the Match case option.
- Guided practice (12'): Show the Whole words option with a sample paragraph; students work in pairs to apply it.
- Independent activity (15'): Worksheet with three scenarios requiring the correct option; teacher circulates for support.
- Check for understanding (8'): Quick Kahoot quiz on when to use each option and common pitfalls.
- Summary & reflection (5'): Class discussion of strategies and exam tips.

Conclusion:
Recap the key steps and why Match case and Whole words matter for accuracy. Students complete an exit ticket describing which option they would use for a given example. For homework, they create a one‑page document and perform a Find and Replace task using both options.
