Grade: Date: 17/01/2026
Subject: Business
Lesson Topic: the role of intrapreneurship in the ongoing success of a business
Learning Objective/s:
  • Describe the key differences between entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs.
  • Explain how intrapreneurship drives innovation, competitive advantage, and employee engagement.
  • Analyse the steps a business can take to foster intrapreneurial activity.
  • Identify common challenges to intrapreneurship and propose mitigation strategies.
Materials Needed:
  • Projector and screen
  • Whiteboard and markers
  • Printed handout of the comparison table
  • Case‑study worksheet (e.g., intrapreneurial process flowchart)
  • Sticky notes for idea‑generation activity
  • Timer or stopwatch
Introduction:

Begin with a quick poll: “Who has ever launched a new idea at work?” Use the responses to link prior knowledge of entrepreneurship to the concept of intrapreneurship. State that by the end of the lesson students will be able to recognise how intrapreneurs sustain business success and what support they need.

Lesson Structure:
  1. Do‑Now (5'): Students write one example of an intrapreneurial idea they know; share briefly.
  2. Direct Instruction (10'): Present definitions and the entrepreneur vs. intrapreneur comparison table (slide).
  3. Guided Practice (12'): Small groups analyse the “Why Intrapreneurship Matters” list and match each point to real‑world business outcomes.
  4. Activity – Innovation Lab Simulation (15'): Groups use sticky notes to map the five steps to foster intrapreneurship for a given scenario; teacher circulates for feedback.
  5. Challenge Discussion (8'): Whole‑class brainstorm on potential obstacles and mitigation strategies.
  6. Check for Understanding (5'): Quick quiz (Kahoot or hand‑raised) covering key concepts.
Conclusion:

Summarise how intrapreneurs act as catalysts for sustained growth and the leadership actions that enable them. Ask students to write one “next step” they would take to promote intrapreneurship in a business as an exit ticket. Homework: read a short case study on a successful corporate intrapreneur and prepare a one‑page reflection.
