Lesson Plan
Grade: Date: 17/01/2026
Subject: Business
Lesson Topic: employee development to encourage intrapreneurship
Learning Objective/s:
  • Describe the key intrapreneurial competencies and why they matter for organisational agility.
  • Explain how specific training methods (OJT, e‑learning, action learning, etc.) develop those competencies.
  • Apply a skills‑gap analysis to design a targeted intrapreneurial development programme.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness using the Kirkpatrick model.
  • Propose incentives and support mechanisms to sustain intrapreneurial behaviour.
Materials Needed:
  • Projector and screen
  • Whiteboard and markers
  • Handouts of the competency‑training matrix
  • Case‑study worksheets (real‑world innovation examples)
  • Laptops/tablets for e‑learning demos
  • Post‑it notes and flip‑chart paper for group work
Introduction:

Begin with a quick story of a breakthrough product that originated from an employee idea (e.g., 3M’s Post‑it). Ask students to recall any training they have experienced that encouraged them to think creatively. Explain that today they will learn how to purposefully develop such intrapreneurial skills and will be able to design a mini‑programme by the end of the lesson.

Lesson Structure:
  1. Do‑Now (5'): Write down one idea you have for improving a school or workplace process.
  2. Mini‑lecture (10'): Define intrapreneurship and review the five core competencies.
  3. Group mapping activity (15'): Using the handout, match each competency to a suitable training method; present findings.
  4. Skills‑gap analysis simulation (15'): Teams analyse a brief skills‑gap profile and identify priority competencies.
  5. Design a micro‑development programme (20'): Teams create a 4‑step plan (methods, timeline, support, incentives) for a chosen competency.
  6. Gallery walk & feedback (10'): Groups display plans; peers give constructive comments.
  7. Exit ticket (5'): Write one actionable step you will take to foster intrapreneurship in your own context.
Conclusion:

Summarise how targeted training links directly to intrapreneurial outcomes and how the Kirkpatrick model can measure impact. Collect exit tickets as a quick retrieval check. For homework, ask students to draft a one‑page intrapreneurial development plan for a real or imagined organisation, highlighting training methods, incentives, and evaluation criteria.
