Introduction:
Begin with a quick poll: “What was the first thing you learned when you started your first job?” Discuss how that experience relates to formal training. Explain that today we will explore three main training approaches and how to decide which is most effective.
|
Lesson Structure:
- Do‑now (5 minutes): Students write down their first‑day experience and share with a partner.
- Mini‑lecture (10 minutes): Overview of training purpose and the three types using slides and examples.
- Group comparison activity (15 minutes): Teams complete a Venn diagram comparing induction, on‑the‑job and off‑the‑job training.
- Case‑study application (15 minutes): Groups receive a scenario, choose the most suitable training method, justify their choice, and present.
- Whole‑class debrief & formative quiz (10 minutes): Quick Kahoot/exit‑ticket to recap key differences.
|
Conclusion:
Recap the three training types and their key characteristics. Students write one takeaway on an exit ticket and submit it. For homework, each student researches a real company’s training programme and prepares a short summary to share in the next lesson.
