Grade: Date: 25/02/2026
Subject: Information Communication Technology ICT
Lesson Topic: Be able to apply text enhancement including bold, underline, italic, superscript and subscript, changes in case
Learning Objective/s:
  • Apply bold, underline, italic, superscript, subscript, and case‑change formatting using word‑processing software.
  • Demonstrate the correct toolbar icons and keyboard shortcuts for each enhancement.
  • Identify and correct common formatting errors in a sample document.
Materials Needed:
  • Computer with MS Word or LibreOffice Writer
  • Projector or interactive whiteboard
  • Sample worksheet with unformatted text
  • Printed shortcut key chart handout
  • Teacher‑prepared demonstration document
Introduction:

Begin with a quick visual of a poorly formatted paragraph to highlight the impact of text enhancement. Review students’ prior experience with basic formatting tools. Explain that by the end of the lesson they will reliably apply six enhancement techniques and use shortcuts to meet exam criteria.

Lesson Structure:
  1. Do‑now (5'): Students edit a short paragraph, adding bold to headings.
  2. Mini‑lecture (10'): Teacher explains each enhancement, shows toolbar icons and keyboard shortcuts.
  3. Guided practice (12'): Learners follow step‑by‑step instructions to apply all six techniques to a worksheet.
  4. Pair check (8'): Students exchange documents and use a checklist to spot common mistakes.
  5. Independent activity (10'): Create a 150‑200‑word report applying all enhancements; save and prepare to demonstrate.
  6. Exit quiz (5'): Quick exit ticket – list three shortcuts and when to use case change.
Conclusion:

Summarise how proper text enhancement improves readability and exam performance. Collect the completed reports as a formative check and ask students to write one shortcut they will practice at home. Assign homework to reformat a paragraph from their textbook using all six techniques.
