Introduction:
Show a quick photo montage of diverse families to hook interest. Review pronouns and the basic “Subject + Verb + Object” pattern from the previous lesson. Explain that today students will be able to talk about themselves, family and friends, and that success will be measured by correct use of vocabulary, 的 and the “是…的” structure in both speaking and writing.
|
Lesson Structure:
- Do‑Now (5'): Students match Chinese words to English meanings on a quick worksheet.
- Vocabulary & Grammar Mini‑lecture (10'): Introduce/refresh 的 linking and “是…的” pattern with examples.
- Family‑Tree Role‑play (15'): Students draw a family tree and introduce each member in Mandarin.
- Describe a Classmate (15'): In pairs, write a short paragraph describing appearance, character and mood; exchange for peer feedback.
- Interview Game (10'): Students use index‑card questions to interview each other, recording answers in a table.
- Vocabulary Bingo & Wrap‑up (5'): Play bingo to reinforce key words, then review key points.
|
Conclusion:
Summarise how the lesson met the objectives, highlighting correct use of 的 and “是…的”. For the exit ticket, each student writes one sentence describing a family member’s appearance or mood in Mandarin. Homework: complete a “My Family” poster with Chinese labels and a short self‑introduction paragraph.
