Lesson Plan
Grade: Date: 01/12/2025
Subject: Information Communication Technology ICT
Lesson Topic: Be able to apply consistent animation effects on text, images and other objects
Learning Objective/s:
  • Identify the purpose of animation in presentations.
  • Select appropriate animation categories (entrance, emphasis, exit, motion path) for different slide elements.
  • Apply a uniform animation style across a slide deck using PowerPoint, Google Slides, or LibreOffice Impress.
  • Adjust animation speed and start options to maintain a consistent flow.
  • Evaluate a presentation for consistent animation and refine any inconsistencies.
Materials Needed:
  • Computer with PowerPoint, Google Slides, and LibreOffice Impress installed
  • Projector or interactive display
  • Sample presentation file for teacher demonstration
  • Teacher handout summarising animation categories
  • Student worksheet for planning animations
  • Internet access for Google Slides
Introduction:
Begin with a short video clip that shows how well‑timed animations can make a presentation more engaging.
Ask students to recall times they have seen distracting or inconsistent animations.
Explain that today they will learn to select and apply a uniform set of animation effects to improve clarity and professionalism.
Success will be measured by creating a brief slide deck where all headings, body text, and images follow the same animation rules.
Lesson Structure:
  1. Do‑Now (5') – View two short slide shows and note differences in animation consistency; share observations.
  2. Mini‑lecture (10') – Explain the purpose of animation and review the four effect categories using the provided table.
  3. Demonstration (15') – Show how to set a consistent entrance, emphasis, and exit effect in PowerPoint, then repeat quickly in Google Slides and LibreOffice Impress.
  4. Guided practice (20') – In pairs, edit a sample presentation: apply the same entrance effect to all titles, the same emphasis effect to bullet points, and the same exit effect to images; keep speed “Medium” and start “On Click”. Teacher circulates for support.
  5. Peer review (10') – Exchange decks, use the checklist to verify consistency, and give constructive feedback.
  6. Reflection & exit ticket (5') – Write one tip for maintaining animation consistency and submit it digitally or on a sticky note.
Conclusion:
Recap how consistent animation enhances audience focus and gives a polished appearance.
Invite a few students to share the tip they wrote on the exit ticket.
Assign homework: each student creates a three‑slide presentation on a topic of their choice, applying the consistent animation rules learned today.
