| Lesson Topic: Be able to insert and edit objects on a slide including text (headings, subheadings, bulleted lists), images (still images, video clips, animated images), charts, tables, audio clips (sound), symbols, lines, arrows, call out boxes and shapes |
Learning Objective/s:
- Insert and edit text objects such as headings, sub‑headings and bulleted lists on a slide.
- Add and modify visual objects including still images, video clips, animated GIFs, charts and tables.
- Apply formatting, grouping and playback settings to audio, video and other objects and preview the slide for a polished presentation.
|
Materials Needed:
- Computer with PowerPoint (or equivalent) installed
- Projector or interactive display
- Sample slide file for demonstration
- Image, video and audio files for practice
- Handout checklist of object‑insertion steps
- Whiteboard and markers
|
Introduction:
Begin with a quick poll: “What visual element makes a slide most memorable?” Connect responses to prior knowledge of slide layouts. Explain that today’s success criteria are to correctly insert, edit, and format at least three different object types on a slide.
|
Lesson Structure:
- Do‑Now (5’) – Students list the Insert‑tab options they recall; teacher checks understanding.
- Mini‑lecture & demo (15’) – Show slide sorter view, inserting text, images, and charts; highlight formatting pane.
- Guided practice (20’) – In pairs, students add a heading, a picture, and a chart to a template slide, then swap to review each other’s work.
- Audio & video insertion (10’) – Demonstrate inserting an audio clip and a short video, setting playback options.
- Shapes, lines, and call‑outs (10’) – Quick demo of drawing, formatting, and grouping shapes.
- Check for understanding (5’) – Whole‑class “exit ticket” on Kahoot: identify the correct steps for resizing and grouping objects.
|
Conclusion:
Recap the key steps for inserting and editing each object type and emphasize the importance of previewing slides in Slide Show mode. Students complete a short exit ticket describing how they would add an audio clip with automatic playback. For homework, they create a one‑minute slide that incorporates at least four different objects and bring it to the next lesson.
