Grade: Date: 17/01/2026
Subject: Business Studies
Lesson Topic: objectives of different stakeholder groups
Learning Objective/s:
  • Identify the primary objectives of each major stakeholder group.
  • Analyse how stakeholder objectives can conflict and influence business decisions.
  • Apply stakeholder‑analysis techniques to propose strategies for balancing competing interests.
  • Evaluate the role of corporate social responsibility in addressing community and societal stakeholder concerns.
Materials Needed:
  • Projector and laptop for presentation
  • Whiteboard and markers
  • Printed handout of stakeholder groups and objectives
  • Stakeholder‑map diagram (slide/print)
  • Worksheet for group analysis activity
  • Sticky notes and poster paper
Introduction:

Start with a quick poll: ask students which groups they think influence a business the most. Recall the previous lesson on business objectives and profit. Explain that today they will explore the specific aims of each stakeholder group and learn how managers balance competing interests. Success will be measured by their ability to list objectives and suggest management strategies.

Lesson Structure:
  1. Do‑now (5') – Students write as many stakeholder groups as they can think of on sticky notes; share and cluster on the board.
  2. Mini‑lecture (10') – Present the eight stakeholder groups and their primary objectives using slides and the printed handout.
  3. Guided analysis (12') – In pairs, examine a table of objectives, match them to groups, and discuss potential conflicts.
  4. Whole‑class discussion (8') – Review common conflicts (e.g., profit vs wages) and elicit strategies for managing them.
  5. Group activity (15') – Teams create a stakeholder map on poster paper, indicating power and interest, then propose one compromise solution for a selected conflict.
  6. Check for understanding (5') – Quick quiz (Kahoot or exit ticket) with three questions on objectives and management strategies.
Conclusion:

Recap that each stakeholder group pursues distinct objectives that can clash, requiring managers to use analysis, communication and compromise. For the exit ticket, students name one conflict and suggest a possible compromise. Homework: complete a short case‑study worksheet applying stakeholder analysis to a real‑world company.
