Lesson Plan
Grade: Date: 25/02/2026
Subject: Information Communication Technology ICT
Lesson Topic: Be able to insert and edit a hyperlink including linking text or objects to a slide within the presentation, an external file or an email address
Learning Objective/s:
  • Describe the purpose and different types of hyperlinks used in presentations.
  • Demonstrate how to insert hyperlinks to slides, external files, web pages, and email addresses.
  • Edit and troubleshoot existing hyperlinks to ensure they work correctly.
Materials Needed:
  • Computer with presentation software (e.g., PowerPoint)
  • Projector or interactive display
  • Sample presentation file for practice
  • Handout outlining hyperlink insertion steps
  • Internet access for web‑link demonstration
  • External files (PDF, video) for linking
Introduction:

Begin with a quick question: “What happens when you click a highlighted word in a slide?” Students recall prior experience with hyperlinks. Explain that today they will master creating and editing links to slides, files, web pages, and email addresses, and will be assessed by successfully adding each type to a sample deck.

Lesson Structure:
  1. Do‑Now (5'): Students examine a provided slide and note any existing hyperlinks (pair share).
  2. Mini‑lecture (10'): Overview of hyperlink types and appropriate uses.
  3. Teacher demonstration (15'): Live insertion of a slide link, external file link, web URL, and email link.
  4. Guided practice (20'): In pairs, students add each type of hyperlink to the sample presentation; teacher circulates to support.
  5. Editing & troubleshooting (10'): Students modify a deliberately broken hyperlink and resolve the issue.
  6. Exit ticket (5'): Write the four steps needed to insert a slide hyperlink.
Conclusion:

Recap the four hyperlink types and the key steps for inserting and editing them. Collect exit tickets to gauge understanding, and assign a homework task: create a three‑slide mini‑presentation that includes at least one hyperlink of each type.
