Lesson Topic: Be able to create or edit lists including bulleted, numbered
Learning Objective/s:
  • Identify when to use bulleted versus numbered lists in a document.
  • Demonstrate how to create, format and edit bulleted, numbered and multi‑level lists using word‑processing software.
  • Apply correct indentation and numbering styles to produce professional documents.
Materials Needed:

  • Projector and screen
  • Sample worksheet with list tasks
  • Printed handout summarising list options
  • Internet access for video demo (optional)
Introduction:
Begin with a quick question: “How do you make information easy to scan in a report?” Review students’ prior experience with lists, then outline today’s success criteria: students will create, edit and format bulleted, numbered and multi‑level lists correctly.
Lesson Structure:
  1. Do‑now (5’) – Students list three reasons why lists improve readability on a sticky note.
  2. Mini‑lecture (10’) – Demonstrate creating bulleted and numbered lists, highlighting toolbar buttons and indentation.
  3. Guided practice (15’) – Whole class follows step‑by‑step instructions to build a bulleted list of advantages.
  4. Pair activity (15’) – Learners create a numbered list of heading‑formatting steps and then change the numbering style.
  5. Multi‑level list task (15’) – In pairs, design a simple recipe using a numbered main list and bulleted sub‑items; teacher circulates for feedback.
  6. Check for understanding (5’) – Quick quiz (Kahoot or show‑of‑hands) on common pitfalls.
  7. Exit ticket (5’) – Students write one tip for editing lists correctly on an index card.
Conclusion:
Summarise how appropriate list choice enhances document clarity and professionalism. Invite a few students to share the tip they recorded on their exit ticket. Collect the tickets and assign homework: edit a supplied paragraph by adding suitable bulleted and numbered lists.
