  • Apply price‑comparison and review‑checking strategies in a simulated online purchase.

  • Sample product webpages (digital or printed)
  • Internet access for class demonstration
  • Sticky notes for brainstorming
  • Exit ticket cards
Introduction:

Begin with a quick poll: “What was the last thing you bought online and why?” Use this to link students’ personal experience to the concept of e‑commerce. Review prior knowledge of traditional retail versus online shopping. Explain that by the end of the lesson they will be able to list key benefits and drawbacks and judge their overall value.

Lesson Structure:
  1. Do‑now (5'): KWL chart on online shopping – students note what they Know and Want to learn.
  2. Mini‑lecture (10'): Define e‑commerce and present the main advantages using slides.
  3. Group activity (12'): Using the worksheet, groups list disadvantages and match them to corresponding advantages.
  4. Class discussion (8'): Groups share findings; teacher highlights security and return‑policy issues.
  5. Simulation (10'): Students browse a price‑comparison site, choose a product, record pros/cons, and present a brief justification.
  6. Check for understanding (5'): Quick Kahoot quiz or exit‑ticket question – “One advantage and one disadvantage that would influence your next purchase.”
Conclusion:

Summarise the balanced view of e‑commerce, emphasizing how advantages can be maximised while mitigating risks. Collect exit tickets to gauge individual take‑aways. Assign homework: students research a chosen online retailer, identify three advantages and three disadvantages, and suggest one improvement.
