Lesson Plan
Grade: 10 Date: 25/02/2026
Subject: Spanish
Lesson Topic: Education (e.g. learning institutions, education and training, the classroom, learning tools, subjects, studying)
Learning Objective/s:
  • Identify and name common educational institutions, subjects, and learning tools in Spanish.
  • Use present‑tense verbs, gustar constructions, and expressions of frequency to describe study habits.
  • Write a short descriptive paragraph about a personal place of study, incorporating comparative language and object pronouns.
Materials Needed:
  • Projector or interactive whiteboard
  • Printed vocabulary handout
  • Worksheet for the descriptive‑paragraph activity
  • Audio recording of the classroom dialogue
  • Markers and whiteboard
  • Laptops or tablets for digital research (optional)
Introduction:

Begin with a rapid “guess the word” game using images of schools, books and computers to spark interest. Ask students what words they already know about their own school in Spanish, linking to prior lessons on classroom vocabulary. Explain that by the end of the lesson they will be able to describe any educational setting fluently and accurately.

Lesson Structure:
  1. Warm‑up (5'): Quick oral quiz on school‑related vocabulary displayed on the projector.
  2. Presentation (10'): Teacher introduces key grammatical structures (gustar, frequency expressions, direct/indirect object pronouns) with clear examples.
  3. Guided practice (10'): Students read the provided dialogue, underline verbs and tools, then answer comprehension questions.
  4. Grammar drill (5'): Conjugation of estudiar in the present tense on the board with choral repetition.
  5. Writing activity (15'): Students compose a 5‑7 sentence paragraph describing their own institution, using at least three subjects, two tools, and two frequency expressions.
  6. Peer review (10'): Pair‑share texts, correct each other’s grammar and vocabulary, focusing on pronoun use and comparatives.
  7. Quick assessment (5'): Exit‑ticket – answer the three “Evaluación rápida” questions in writing.
  8. Wrap‑up (5'): Teacher summarises the main language points and sets homework.
Conclusion:

Review the newly learned vocabulary and structures, highlighting common errors observed during peer review. Collect the exit tickets to gauge understanding and provide immediate feedback. Assign homework: write a 8‑sentence description of a different learning environment (e.g., a library or online course) using the same target language features.
