| Lesson Topic: Be able to insert and edit objects consistently including images, text, shapes, logos, slide headers and footers, placeholder position, automated slide numbering |
Learning Objective/s:
- Demonstrate how to insert text boxes, images, shapes, logos and SmartArt into a slide.
- Apply formatting tools to edit size, position, colour and effects of inserted objects.
- Configure placeholders, headers, footers and automated slide numbers using the Slide Master.
- Maintain consistency across a presentation by applying uniform fonts, colour schemes and alignment.
- Use keyboard shortcuts to streamline object manipulation and slide creation.
|
Materials Needed:
- Computer with Microsoft PowerPoint (or equivalent) for each student.
- Projector and screen.
- Sample images and logo files.
- Handout outlining Slide Master steps and consistency checklist.
- Worksheet for independent practice.
- Whiteboard and markers.
|
Introduction:
Begin with a quick show‑case of a polished versus a cluttered slide deck to spark interest. Ask learners what makes the first deck look professional and link this to consistency. State that by the end of the lesson they will be able to create uniformly formatted slides and meet the success criteria of inserting and editing objects correctly.
|
Lesson Structure:
- Do‑now (5') – Students examine a mixed‑quality slide deck and note inconsistencies (quick share).
- Mini‑lecture & demo (10') – Teacher models inserting a text box, picture, shape, logo and SmartArt, then edits formatting and positions using the Size & Position dialog.
- Guided practice (15') – In pairs, students open the Slide Master, adjust placeholders, add a footer and enable automated slide numbering on a three‑slide sample.
- Independent activity (10') – Learners complete the consistency checklist, refining font sizes, colour scheme and alignment across their slides.
- Plenary & Q&A (5') – Review the key steps, answer questions and clarify any remaining doubts.
|
Conclusion:
Recap the process of inserting objects, editing them, and ensuring uniformity through the Slide Master. Students submit an exit ticket describing one change they made to improve consistency. For homework, they create a five‑slide presentation on a topic of their choice, applying all the techniques learned.
