Introduction:

Start with a quick poll: how many students have heard of a business plan? Connect this to prior knowledge about starting a small venture and set today’s success criteria – students will identify the main sections of a business plan, explain its value to entrepreneurs and investors, and draft a simple outline.

Lesson Structure:
  1. Do‑now (5’) – Students list what they think a business plan includes; share ideas.
  2. Mini‑lecture (10’) – Define a business plan, present key reasons and typical contents using slides.
  3. Group activity (15’) – Analyse a case study; match stakeholder needs to plan sections.
  4. Guided practice (15’) – In pairs, complete a business‑plan outline using the template (executive summary, objectives, market analysis, etc.).
  5. Whole‑class debrief (10’) – Groups present outlines; teacher highlights strengths and gaps.
  6. Exit ticket (5’) – Write one benefit of a business plan for an investor and one for an entrepreneur.
Conclusion:

Recap that a well‑structured business plan clarifies ideas, secures finance and guides daily decisions. Collect the exit tickets and remind students to finish the full plan template as homework, ready to share in the next lesson.
