Lesson Plan
Grade: Date: 25/02/2026
Subject: Information Communication Technology ICT
Lesson Topic: Be able to print the presentation in a variety of layouts including full page slides, presenter notes, handouts
Learning Objective/s:
  • Describe the different print layout options available for presentations.
  • Select the most appropriate layout based on audience needs and purpose.
  • Demonstrate the step‑by‑step process to print a presentation in PowerPoint and other common software.
  • Apply a pre‑print checklist (slide numbers, orientation, colour, paper size) to ensure professional handouts.
  • Evaluate the readability of printed handouts and make adjustments to font size or graphics.
Materials Needed:
  • Computer with PowerPoint (or Google Slides/LibreOffice Impress) installed
  • Projector and screen
  • Printer (colour and black‑and‑white)
  • Sample presentation file
  • Handout checklist worksheet
  • Whiteboard and markers
Introduction:

Begin with a quick question: “When might a presenter need a printed copy of their slides?” Use students’ responses to link to real‑world scenarios such as conferences and exams. Remind them that they have already created digital slides in previous lessons. Explain that today they will master printing layouts and will be able to produce professional handouts that match the audience’s needs.

Lesson Structure:
  1. Do‑Now (5'): Students answer a short quiz on the five print layout types.
  2. Mini‑lecture (10'): Teacher reviews each layout, its typical use, and key settings (slide numbers, orientation, colour).
  3. Guided demonstration (15'): Live walk‑through of printing a PowerPoint deck – selecting File ► Print, choosing layout, adjusting options, and printing.
  4. Pair activity (15'): Each pair selects a layout, prints a handout from the sample deck, and completes the checklist worksheet.
  5. Whole‑class debrief (5'): Groups share successes or issues; teacher clarifies common mistakes.
Conclusion:

Summarise the importance of matching layout to audience and the steps of the printing process. For the exit ticket, ask each student to write one tip for creating clear handouts. Assign homework: using a personal slide deck, produce a 3‑up handout with slide numbers and submit a scanned copy.
