Introduction:
Start with the question, “Who has ever added a slide in the wrong place?” Capture responses on sticky notes to activate prior knowledge. Briefly recap the previous lesson on slide design principles. Explain that today’s success criteria are to correctly insert three slides with specified layouts and to use shortcuts efficiently.
|
Lesson Structure:
- Do‑now (5'): Students write one mistake they’ve made when adding slides.
- Teacher demo (10'): Show how to insert a slide via the Insert menu, toolbar button, and keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+M / Command+M).
- Guided practice (10'): Learners open a blank file and insert a title slide, then a second slide using the “Title & Content” layout.
- Pair activity (10'): Using Slide Sorter view, students insert a third slide with the “Two Content” layout and adjust the layout as needed.
- Check for understanding (5'): Quick quiz on shortcuts and common mistakes.
- Save & reflect (5'): Students save their file as “MyFirstPresentation” and note one tip they will use next time.
|
Conclusion:
Review the four steps of inserting a slide and the importance of layout selection and regular saving. Exit ticket: write the keyboard shortcut for inserting a new slide in PowerPoint on Windows. For homework, create a four‑slide presentation using at least two different layouts and bring it to the next class.
