  • Describe the main economic, political, legal, infrastructural, social, technological and environmental factors influencing a business’s choice of country location.
  • Analyse how each factor can affect profitability and operational risk.
  • Apply a decision‑making framework to evaluate two potential countries for a given business scenario.

  • Printed worksheet with case‑study scenarios
  • Summary handout of location‑decision factors

 Introduction:
Begin with a quick poll: which countries would you consider for a new factory and why? Recall our previous lesson on market analysis and how it guides product strategy. Today you will identify key location factors and use them to justify a country choice, meeting the success criteria of describing, analysing and applying the framework.
Lesson Structure:
  1. Do‑now (5'): Students list three countries for a new manufacturing plant and give a brief justification.
  2. Mini‑lecture (10'): Present the seven categories of location factors with real‑world examples (slides).
  3. Guided analysis (15'): In pairs, use the handout to evaluate a provided case study against each factor, completing a comparison table.
  4. Whole‑class discussion (10'): Groups share findings; teacher highlights interactions between factors.
  5. Decision‑making activity (10'): Each group selects the most suitable country and prepares a 2‑minute pitch using the decision‑flowchart.
  6. Formative check (5'): Exit ticket – write one factor that would make you change your decision.
Conclusion:
