Introduction:
Begin with a recent headline about a phishing scam that affected local students. Ask learners to share any online experiences where they felt unsure about safety. Explain that today they will discover how to protect themselves across all digital activities and will be able to demonstrate safe practices by the end of the lesson.
|
Lesson Structure:
- Do‑Now (5'): Students write on sticky notes three online activities they use daily and place them on the board.
- Mini‑lecture with slides (10'): Overview of eSafety importance, common risks, and general safety tips.
- Group Scenario Activity (15'): Four groups receive a scenario (Internet, Email, Social Media, Gaming). They identify risks, propose mitigation measures, and create a quick poster.
- Gallery Walk & Whole‑Class Discussion (10'): Groups display posters; class discusses key practices and corrects misconceptions.
- Quick Knowledge Check (5'): Kahoot quiz or worksheet to assess understanding of eSafety concepts.
|
Conclusion:
Recap the four pillars of eSafety covered today and highlight the most critical actions for each digital platform. For the exit ticket, each student writes one personal eSafety action they will implement this week on a sticky note. Assign homework: create a one‑page personal eSafety plan summarising passwords, privacy settings, and reporting steps.
