Learning Objective/s:
  • Identify and name the seven continents in Spanish.
  • Recall Spanish names and nationality adjectives for at least ten countries.
  • Use cardinal and intercardinal points to describe locations in Spanish.
  • Ask and answer simple personal‑origin questions using appropriate vocabulary.
  • Demonstrate understanding through matching, fill‑in, and dialogue activities.
Materials Needed:
  • Projector or interactive whiteboard
  • Printed world‑map handout labelled in Spanish
  • Worksheet with matching, fill‑in, and dialogue tasks
  • Country/nationality flashcards
  • Compass rose poster
  • Markers / pens
 Introduction:
Begin with a quick world‑map quiz: ask students to point to continents in English, then reveal the Spanish terms. Connect this to prior lessons on geography vocabulary. Explain that today they will expand their repertoire to include country names, nationality adjectives, and compass points, and that success will be measured by accurate use in oral and written tasks.
Lesson Structure:
  1. Do‑Now (5') – Students label a blank world map with the continents in Spanish.
  2. Direct Instruction (10') – Teacher presents continent names, country list, and compass points using slides and the map.
  3. Guided Practice (15') – Matching exercise on worksheet; teacher circulates to check understanding.
  4. Interactive Activity (10') – Fill‑in‑the‑blanks for compass points; students work in pairs.
  5. Dialogue Role‑Play (10') – Pairs practice the origin dialogue, swapping roles.
  6. Consolidation Quiz (5') – Quick Kahoot or exit ticket: name a continent, a country with its nationality, and a direction.
Total time ≈ 55 minutes.
Conclusion:
Review the key vocabulary by having a few volunteers share their dialogue answers and point out directions on the map. Collect exit tickets that ask students to write one continent, one country with its nationality, and a cardinal point.
