| Grade: 7 |
Date: 01/12/2025 |
| Subject: Information Communication Technology ICT |
| Lesson Topic: Be able to group and layer images including grouping and ungrouping, moving to the front or back |
Learning Objective/s:
- Describe how grouping combines multiple images into a single selectable object.
- Demonstrate how to ungroup images to edit individual components.
- Apply layering commands (bring to front, send to back, bring forward, send backward) to control image Z‑order.
- Use grouping and layering techniques to create a composite visual layout.
|
Materials Needed:
- Computer with ICT software (e.g., PowerPoint, Word, Google Slides)
- Projector and screen
- Sample image files (tree, house, sun)
- Worksheet with step‑by‑step instructions
- Teacher’s demonstration slides
- Access to Selection Pane (optional)
|
Introduction:
Begin with a quick question: “What happens when you click on a picture in a document?” Connect this to prior work on selecting and moving objects. Explain that today’s success criteria are to group, ungroup, and reorder images correctly.
|
Lesson Structure:
- Do‑Now (5'): Quick quiz on drawing objects and basic selection.
- Mini‑lecture & demo (10'): Explain grouping/ungrouping and show toolbar/menu options.
- Guided practice (15'): Students insert three images, resize, and create partial overlaps.
- Grouping activity (10'): Students group two images, then ungroup them while teacher circulates.
- Layering challenge (15'): Using bring to front/back and forward/backward commands, students achieve a specified stacking order.
- Reflection & save (5'): Students save their file and record the sequence of commands used on the worksheet.
|
Conclusion:
Recap the four key commands and why grouping is useful. Collect an exit ticket where each learner lists one situation they could use grouping or layering. Assign a homework task to create a simple flyer applying the techniques learned.
