Lesson Plan
Grade: Date: 01/12/2025
Subject: Information Communication Technology ICT
Lesson Topic: Be able to place appropriate content in the body section of a web page
Learning Objective/s:
  • Identify which HTML elements belong in the <body> of a web page.
  • Explain the purpose and proper hierarchy of headings, paragraphs, lists, tables, and links within the body.
  • Construct a simple web page body using appropriate tags and validate its structure against a checklist.
Materials Needed:
  • Computer with internet access
  • Projector or interactive whiteboard
  • Text editor/IDE (e.g., VS Code)
  • Sample HTML template handout
  • Worksheet with body‑section checklist
  • Web browser for live preview
Introduction:
Today we’ll explore how the content we see on a web page is actually built inside the <body> element. Building on your knowledge of basic HTML tags, you will learn which elements belong in the body and how to organise them logically. By the end of the lesson you will be able to create a complete body section that meets the checklist criteria.
Lesson Structure:
  1. Do‑now (5’) – Review a printed HTML skeleton and identify missing body content.
  2. Mini‑lecture (10’) – Explain the purpose of the body and common elements, showing examples.
  3. Guided demo (15’) – Teacher builds an “About Me” page live, inserting headings, paragraph, list, table, and link.
  4. Pair activity (15’) – Learners create their own body section using the checklist and handout.
  5. Check for understanding (5’) – Quick quiz on hierarchy and tag usage.
  6. Wrap‑up (5’) – Review key points and answer questions.
Conclusion:
To recap, we examined the role of the <body> tag and practiced adding headings, paragraphs, lists, tables, and links in a logical order. Complete the exit ticket by writing one body element you found most challenging and how you will check it next time. For homework, finish the web page you started in class and validate it using the W3C validator.
