  • Describe the main advantages a host country gains from an MNC’s presence (employment, exports, consumer choice, investment).
  • Explain how job creation and export growth improve the host country’s balance of payments.
  • Analyse the role of foreign direct investment and technology transfer in enhancing local productivity.

  • Whiteboard and markers
  • Printed worksheet with the illustrative table
  • Short video case study of an MNC in a host country
  • Sticky notes for group activity

 Introduction:
Begin with a quick poll: “What global brands operate in our country?” Use responses to link prior knowledge of local businesses to multinational companies. Explain that today’s lesson will identify how MNCs can boost the host economy and outline the success criteria: students will list and explain at least three advantages.
Lesson Structure:
  1. Do‑now (5’) – Matching activity on the board linking MNC activities to economic outcomes.
  2. Mini‑lecture (10’) – Present the four key advantages using slides and the illustrative table.
  3. Group analysis (15’) – Small groups work with a case‑study worksheet to identify examples of job creation, export growth, consumer choice and FDI, then discuss inter‑relationships.
  4. Whole‑class debrief (10’) – Groups share findings; teacher highlights technology transfer and balance‑of‑payments links.
  5. Concept check (5’) – Quick quiz (Kahoot or show of hands) to confirm understanding of each advantage.
  6. Exit ticket (5’) – Students write one advantage and a real‑world example on a slip to hand in.
Conclusion:
