Lesson Plan
Grade: Date: 17/01/2026
Subject: Global Perspectives
Lesson Topic: present research and include citations and references
Learning Objective/s:
- Describe key concepts of communication and collaboration.
- Analyze research findings on communication quality and team performance.
- Evaluate the impact of cultural differences and technology on global collaboration.
- Apply a simple collaboration‑effectiveness formula to real‑world scenarios.
- Cite sources correctly using an appropriate referencing style.
Materials Needed:
- Projector or interactive whiteboard
- Printed handouts of the comparative channel table
- Worksheets for formula calculations
- Access to an online citation tool (e.g., Zotero)
- Markers and flip chart for group brainstorming
Introduction:
Begin with a quick poll: “Which digital tool do you use most for group work and why?” Connect this to students’ prior experiences of teamwork. Explain that today they will explore how communication shapes collaboration and will be expected to present research findings with proper citations.
Lesson Structure:
1) Do‑now (5’) – Students answer the poll and list three communication strengths they notice in their groups.
2) Mini‑lecture (10’) – Introduce key concepts and summarize Gibson & Gibbs (2006) and Katzenbach & Smith (1993) findings, modelling in‑text citations.
3) Data analysis activity (15’) – In pairs, examine the “Comparative Study of Communication Channels” table and calculate a simple collaboration effectiveness score using the provided formula.
4) Case‑study discussion (10’) – Review the Global Tech Initiative example; identify trust, shared purpose, and cultural considerations.
5) Guided writing practice (10’) – Students draft a short paragraph that summarises one research finding and includes at least two citations.
6) Peer review (5’) – Exchange drafts to check citation format and reference list accuracy.
Total ≈ 55 minutes.
Conclusion:
Recap the objectives, highlighting how students described concepts, analysed data, and produced cited summaries. Exit ticket: write one concrete strategy to improve collaboration in a multicultural team. Homework: locate a recent article on digital collaboration, create a full reference entry, and be ready to share in the next class.
